For most of my career, I worked as a graphic designer who also made artists' books, small collages and other works on paper. A move to Atlanta in 2003 brought me back to full-time studio work. I relearned relief printmaking, continued with artists' books and collage, but also began to make ceramic sculpture for the first time. I truly fell in love with clay.
Strangely, a few years before the COVID-19 pandemic, I had created an earthenware series called "After the Apocalypse". I had begun to wonder about the apocalypse theme that appeared in a number of films and books so I decided to explore that. This series is, for me, figures reemerging from the earth, changed but hopeful.
